Following the intense showdown between Yuji Itadori and Choso, Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 43 of Jujutsu Kaisen shifts gears and focuses on the psychological aftermath of the battle — and delivers one of the most puzzling twists of the Shibuya Incident arc so far.

The chapter opens with Choso standing victorious — or so it seems. Bloodied but conscious, he’s struck by an unexpected wave of confusion. Out of nowhere, Choso begins recalling memories of Yuji as his brother, even though there’s no reason he should. This moment stuns both the characters and readers, raising unsettling questions about Yuji’s origins and connections.

This memory flash is no accident. It hints at deeper manipulation — possibly by Kenjaku, the ancient sorcerer who has been body-hopping for centuries. The implication that Yuji may have ties to the Cursed Womb: Death Painting siblings opens a Pandora’s box of lore, conspiracy, and potential betrayals.

Meanwhile, Yuji is left unconscious and vulnerable, a rare moment of defeat for the series’ protagonist. His inability to finish the fight is a humbling moment that humanizes him, reinforcing the stakes of the Shibuya Incident and how overwhelming the enemy truly is.

Artistically, Gege Akutami blends psychological suspense with minimalist paneling to emphasize Choso’s shock and mental breakdown. The horror isn’t physical here — it’s existential. Choso, who has fought for vengeance, is suddenly unsure if his enemy is also family.

Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 43 marks a turning point. The pace slows, but the emotional and narrative weight increases. Readers are no longer asking “Who will win?” — they’re asking “Who is Yuji Itadori, really?”

In this quiet but chilling chapter, Jujutsu Kaisen leans into its darker, more cerebral side. With reality itself beginning to blur, the true horror of the Shibuya Incident is only just beginning.
