Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 154 is a chapter about rebuilding—not cities or teams, but the soul of a boy who no longer knows who he is. Following the devastating psychological assault from the second Equalizer in Chapter 153, Yuji is left hollow, confused, and dangerously close to giving up.
The chapter opens in a blurred dreamscape. Yuji floats through half-formed memories: childhood meals, Gojo’s smirk, Nobara’s laughter, and Nanami’s final words echoing:
“Don’t let their story write yours.”
Suddenly, a younger version of himself—wide-eyed and smiling—appears beside him and asks:
“Even if you were created, does that make your heart fake?”
Yuji stumbles awake in a forest clearing, Megumi and Yuki nearby. Shoko had sedated him after his collapse in the cursed zone. But this time, Yuji’s eyes are clear.
He finally speaks:
“I’ve been a vessel. A tool. A threat. A mistake. But I’ve never been allowed to be just… me.”
Yuki places a hand on his shoulder.
“Then it’s time to stop being what they gave you… and start being what you choose.”
Cut to the second Equalizer, standing in an ancient temple, speaking to a cloaked figure:
“He survived. Good. A balance can’t exist without resistance.”
Back at Jujutsu High, Yuta offers to train Yuji for a second round. But Yuji declines.
“I have to fight this one as myself. Not as Sukuna’s cage. Not as the clans’ pawn. Just Yuji Itadori. The first… and last.”
The final panel shows Yuji activating a new cursed formation, shaped not like Sukuna’s, but like a spiral flame—balanced, rotating, and entirely his own.
Chapter 154 is a spiritual reawakening. Gege Akutami strips away everything Yuji was “supposed” to be—and finally allows him to become who he must be to stand against his mirror.
