Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 148: The Dead Return – Yuji’s Master is Reveale

Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 148 is a chapter built on echoes—echoes of the past, of forgotten techniques, and of voices lost to time. Yuji’s journey toward becoming the “Equalizer” begins not with power, but with knowledge—and a resurrection that breaks the rules of the jujutsu world.

The story opens with Yuji wandering into a cursed mist drawn by the broken shrine seen at the end of Chapter 147. Inside, he encounters a figure in monk’s robes sitting calmly beside a dying tree.

The figure speaks:
“You remember me. Even if you’ve never met me.”

Yuji’s cursed mark glows violently. His knees buckle as memories flood his mind—fragments of a war long before Sukuna’s age, and of a sorcerer who stood against chaos without ever forming a domain.

The figure removes his hood.

It’s Toji Fushiguro.

Yuji gasps—but this is not the rage-filled assassin of the past. This is a spectral rebirth—a version of Toji preserved in the cursed fabric of time, summon the Herald’s awakening.

Toji explains:

“The Equalizer must not be taught by the clans. You’re not their weapon. You’re the fulcrum.”

In a montage filled with haunting imagery, Toji begins training Yuji—not in raw strength, but in instinct-based sorcery, the kind that predates jujutsu’s formalization. No chants. No signs. Just reaction, rhythm, and ruthless clarity.

Meanwhile, the Herald’s voice echoes once again, this time heard by sorcerers across the world:

“Balance cannot exist while old kings rule. The Equalizer must rise alone.”

The final page shows Yuji in a stance eerily similar to Toji’s—and for the first time, he doesn’t hesitate.

Chapter 148 is a resurrection of ideals and a stunning turning point. Gege Akutami reminds us that power doesn’t come from legacy—it comes from who dares to change the rules.
