Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 123: Within the Curse – Gojo’s Gamble to Save Zanka

Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 123 delivers a shocking twist that redefines what it means to be the strongest. With Gojo Satoru cornered by Zanka, the last and most furious cursed soul trapped within Ishiguro Reien, he makes an unthinkable move: he chooses empathy over destruction.

As Zanka thrashes the fractured domain with raw, unfiltered agony, Gojo realizes physical combat won’t save the spirit—or stop it. This soul isn’t just angry—it’s lost in grief, a product of centuries of betrayal by the very system Gojo protects.

So Gojo deactivates his defenses.

He opens his soul completely and attempts a cursed soul merge, something no jujutsu sorcerer has ever survived.

“You don’t want to be forgotten,” Gojo says.
“So let me remember you from the inside.”

Using a forbidden Six Eyes method, Gojo links his cursed core to Zanka’s. Inside, he’s pulled into a twisted dreamscape—a war-torn version of feudal Japan. Ghostly figures cry out, reliving their deaths. In the center stands Zanka, now a young sorcerer again, surrounded by the illusions of the clan that abandoned him.

Gojo reaches out.

But the moment they touch, Zanka’s pain floods Gojo’s mind—an overwhelming torrent of memories, exile, punishment, and silence. For a brief moment, even Gojo forgets who he is.

Outside, Yuta screams as Gojo collapses, bleeding from his eyes.
Shoko gasps:
“He’s not just fighting Zanka—he’s becoming him.”

The final panel shows a fusion in progress—Gojo’s glowing form wrapped in black-red cursed threads, standing silently before the spirit’s shrine.

Chapter 123 is haunting, heartfelt, and beautifully tragic. Gege Akutami turns a battle into a spiritual reckoning, challenging the very nature of strength in Jujutsu Kaisen. This is Gojo not as a warrior, but as a healer—for the dead.
