Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 111: Training the Curse Within – Megumi’s Shadow War Begins
Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 111 begins a new arc of psychological warfare and spiritual survival. Megumi is awake—but not safe. A fragment of Kogane-no-Ō, the primordial curse emperor, lives inside him, silently growing stronger.
The chapter opens at a secluded Zen’in hideout, where Gojo, Yuta, and Shoko have relocated Megumi and Yuji for recovery and secret training. Using ancient techniques nearly lost to the sorcerer world,
Megumi begins a process called Kage Reien—a ritual designed to allow sorcerers to confront internalized curses within their own cursed core.
“If he doesn’t learn to suppress Kogane’s remnant,” Shoko warns, “it will eventually possess him… or worse, reshape him into its heir.”
Inside the ritual, Megumi finds himself in a twisted version of Chimera Shadow Garden, now partially corrupted. Echoes of his thoughts are tainted by whispers that aren’t his. Kogane’s voice lurks,
not commanding—but tempting.
“Let me help you. We’re the same. We are the shadow.”
Meanwhile, far from the training ground, we’re introduced to a new cursed cult—The Hollow Tithe. Believers in the old era of curses, they view Kogane as the “True Sovereign” and Megumi as the vessel foretold in their black scriptures. Their plan? Trigger a reawakening by performing a sacrificial rite in a cursed city where Kogane once ruled.
Yuji, now acting as Megumi’s spiritual anchor, is training alongside him—learning to resist dreamspace corruption and guard his friend’s core in the event of another possession attempt.
The final panel shows Megumi seated in meditation, black shadows surrounding him—his eyes closed—while behind him, Kogane’s third eye flickers open in the darkness.
Chapter 111 is a masterclass in building suspense. Gege Akutami dials into the spiritual, emotional,
and mythological threads, laying the groundwork for an internal war with world-ending consequences.
